Cardiologist Appointed to NM Pharmacy Board

Clarence E. Pearson, M.D., an Interventional Cardiologist and member of the medical staff of Carlsbad Medical Center, has been appointed to the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy by Gov. Bill Richardson. The appointment is effective through July 1, 2012.
The Board of Pharmacy is a regulatory and enforcement agency in the state’s Regulation and Licensing Department, designated to administer three primary statutes: the Pharmacy Act, Drug Device and Cosmetic Act, and Controlled Substances Act. Founded in 1889, when New Mexico was still a territory, the board membership includes six pharmacists and three public members. The board is chaired by Danny Cross, R.Ph., of Southwest Pharmacy in Carlsbad.
Dr. Pearson has practiced medicine for 30 years, including four years in Carlsbad. A member of the CMC medical staff, he is medical director for the hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab and for Intensive Care Unit coronary care. His clinical practice is Cardiovascular Associates of Carlsbad, 2420 W. Pierce Street, Suite 100, an affiliate of Pecos Valley Physician Group.
A graduate of Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Pearson holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He completed a medical residency and fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Cardiology.
