Physicians Elect 2008 Medical Executive Committee

Carlsbad Medical Center’s medical staff members have elected Elliot Marcus, M.D., as Chief of Staff to lead the 2008 Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Marcus is an anesthesiologist who has practiced at CMC since November 2000.
Other officers serving on the Medical Executive Committee are Vice Chief of Staff Mark Howard, M.D.; Past Chief of Staff Michael Sims, M.D.; Department of Medicine Chair Patricia Gurczak, M.D.; Department of Medicine Vice-Chair Mark Hopkins, M.D.; Department of Surgery Chair Marshall Baca, M.D.; Department of Surgery Vice-Chair David Robillard, M.D.; and Members at Large Lyle Folsom, D.P.M., and Eugene Leyble, M.D.
Dr. Howard is an Internal Medicine physician on the CMC medical staff since March 1982. Dr. Sims is an Internal Medicine physician and medical staff member since October 2003; Dr. Gurczak is a cardiologist on the medical staff since July 2006. Sims and Gurczak are both affiliated with Pecos Valley Physician Group.
Dr. Hopkins is an Emergency Medicine physician and medical staff member since May 1980. Dr. Baca is an Orthopedic Surgeon on the CMC medical staff since December 1995. Dr. Robillard is a General/Vascular Surgeon who joined the CMC medical staff beginning in July 1983. Dr. Folsom is a Podiatrist and medical staff member since September 2002. Dr. Leyble is an Internal Medicine physician and Hospitalist on the medical staff since July 2006.
