Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging Department is dynamic and innovative, with a commitment to stay at the forefront of technology and clinical applications in today’s changing field of medical imaging. Our latest technology advances include:

  • Toshiba Aquilion 64-slice CT – The Toshiba CT is ranked #1 in the 2011 top 20 Best in KLAS Award
  • Toshiba 1.5T Titan MRI – With a large 71cm aperture and the quietest exams in the industry, the Titan is the most comfortable system available for your MRI needs.
  • 2 Hologic Selenia Digital Mammography systems – Image quality is the key to early detection, the reason we choose Hologic mammography equipment.
  • Carestream DRX-Evolution digital X-ray room – A fully Automated Solution to reduce X-ray exam times for the patients.
  • Carestream DRX-1 portable X-ray – Allows your physician to view your images in seconds, no more delays required to process the images.
  • Agfa CR and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) - Provides convenient access to images from multiple modalities both in the hospital and your physician’s office. PAC allows you to carry a CD instead of x-ray films when you need copies of your images.

Carlsbad Medical Center has opened a one-stop, full-service Outpatient Diagnostic Center on the hospital campus. You'll love the convenience of diagnostic testing and women's services under one roof. The center includes a state-of-the-art sleep studies lab and a spacious community education center.

Other procedures offered at the center include mammography, bone density, cardiopulmonary stress screening, outpatient laboratory services, and new diagnostic technology for spine and hip imaging.

A licensed Radiologic Technologist performs your diagnostic imaging examination. All of our technologists have been educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care. They also specialize in specific imaging techniques, such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computed tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, Sonography and general radiography.

Diagnostic imaging performs outpatient examinations from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. Contact our Outpatient Diagnostic Center registration office at 575-887-4289. Inpatient and Emergency Department exams are performed 24 hours a day by staff on-site or on-call. You can contact the Diagnostic Imaging Department at 575-887-4184.
