David Shields and Claudia Estrada, Directors of Education for Carlsbad Medical Center, have combined experience of more than 40 years in emergency/critical care nursing and teaching.

We offer formal, structured classes to hospital employees, as well as perform on-the-spot, in-service education sessions for staff.  We dedicate much of our time on the hospital’s nursing units, taking our educational programs to very busy staff who may have a difficult time leaving their unit to come to a classroom.

We teach everything from cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced courses for critical care staff to general nursing topics and special interest topics for non-nursing employees.  In addition to educating our staff, we also provide a variety of educational topics for hospital patients.  We are always willing to teach any of our programs in the community upon request.  You may reach us at 575-887-4287.
