Laboratory Services

Carlsbad Medical Center Laboratory is a full-service facility providing a full range of services to inpatients and outpatients of all ages.  Laboratory accreditation is awarded by the College of American Pathologists, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Food and Drug Administration.

The Laboratory’s primary goals are to provide our patients with the most recent, high-quality testing available, all in an environment providing convenient and timely access.  To ensure that we consistently meet these goals -- and to identify areas where improvement is necessary and/or possible -- Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives are integral to our laboratory operations.

Inpatient services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Outpatient services are available at our new Outpatient Laboratory collection site located in the Southwest Medical Complex, 2402 West Pierce Street, Suite 2A.  This facility has been designed to maximize patient convenience and to minimize wait times.  Services are available at this site on a walk-in basis, Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday from 7 a.m. to noon.  Phone: 575-887-4300.

Laboratory collections are also performed at our new Outpatient Diagnostic Center located on the hospital campus.  This facility has been designed to maximize convenience and to minimize wait times for patients having other diagnostic services in addition to laboratory testing.  Services are available at this site on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Phone: 575-887-4296.
