“We do this jointly to help our communities support school sports in Carlsbad and Loving,” Neela Wickenkamp, R.N., Nursing Leadership Group chair and Same-Day Surgery Recovery Nurse, says.  Richard Adams, M.D., Physician Leadership Group chair, and other PLG members co-sponsor the project and recruit physician volunteers.  CMC’s nursing group initiated the project in 2005 to assist students with the requirement that Carlsbad and Loving public school athletes complete a physical exam prior to participating in school-sponsored sports.  Students must provide a signed parental consent form to be eligible for the free sports physical.
