Carlsbad Medical Center Announces Grand Opening of Pecos Valley Urgent Care

Community Invited to Open House January 19
Carlsbad, N.M.—Pecos Valley Urgent Care, affiliated with Carlsbad Medical Center, will open to patients on January 23. The new urgent care center, located at 3909 National Parks Highway, will offer primary and non-emergent healthcare services seven days a week to patients of all ages. A team of experienced providers will be available to treat a wide range of minor injuries and illnesses – all in one convenient location on the south side of Carlsbad.
The public is invited to attend an open house to celebrate the opening of Pecos Valley Urgent Care on Thursday, January 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tours of the facility, as well as free health screenings and flu shots will be available. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
“We are very excited to expand services for the Carlsbad area and provide better access to healthcare on the south side of town,” said Cathy Hibbs, CEO of Carlsbad Medical Center. “This fulfills a need for a convenient location for the residents of south Carlsbad, Otis and Loving, and offers extended hours for everyone in our community.”
Pecos Valley Urgent Care is a convenient option when you need to see a provider for a variety of conditions including: minor emergencies, cuts and abrasions, sprains and strains, sports injuries, wellness exams, sports, employment and DOT physicals, treatment of minor injuries, common illnesses such as colds, flu, and medical conditions, travel immunizations, and others. The urgent care center also provides convenient patient services including on-site laboratory and x-rays.
No appointments will be necessary. Pecos Valley Urgent Care will operate seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Days. For more information about Pecos Valley Urgent Care, please call 689-1456.

Peggy Denton, MSN, FNP-BC, APRN joined Pecos Valley Physician Group in 2013. She graduated magna cum laude with her Community Based Family Practice degree from the Frontier Nursing University and summa cum laude from Kaplan University. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She completed her internships in the Navajo Nation in Monument Valley, Montezuma Creek, Navajo Mountain and Blanding, Utah. She taught nursing classes at Utah State University for seven years before her arrival in Carlsbad, where she has provided care at Industrial Health Services and Pecos Valley Family Clinic.
Noel Barnes, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C, PCCN arrived in Carlsbad in August and has been seeing patients at Pecos Valley Family Clinic as well as Carlsbad Medical Center’s Emergency Room. Barnes earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and has since continued her advanced nursing education with a master’s degree in Nursing and doctorate of Nursing Practice from Florida Atlantic University. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is skilled in providing both critical care and primary care for patients of all ages.
Missy Richardson, MSN, CNP, FNP-BC, joined Pecos Valley Physician Group in 2016, providing care at Pecos Valley Family Clinic. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, as well as a master’s degree in Nursing through the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Colorado’s Beth El College of Nursing in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Richardson is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Ryan Brison, MSN, NP-C specializes in Adult-Geriatric Primary Care. He received his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro and his master’s degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, both in Tennessee. He is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Since arriving in Carlsbad in August, he has also been caring for patients at Pecos Valley Family Clinic and the CMC ER.
