9/17/2024
Carlsbad Medical Center has announced it has begun the third phase of a renovation and improvement project to advance medical services, update its facility and support care delivered to the growing population in southeastern New Mexico.
Updates are underway for the hospital’s main lobby and cafeteria to create a more welcoming environment, and the hospital’s 3rd floor Inpatient Rehabilitation unit is being enhanced. This follows the recently completed refresh of the 2nd floor Medical-Surgical-Pediatric unit which included new paint, flooring, cabinets and restrooms. New patient beds and recliners have been installed for the comfort of patients and their visitors.
“Carlsbad Medical Center is committed to the residents of Carlsbad and the surrounding area,” says Nick Arledge, Carlsbad Medical Center CEO. “We’re excited about the progress that’s happening and know that the changes taking place will enhance the experience of both patients and visitors alike.”
Specific improvements include:
- A redesigned, patient-friendly lobby and registration area
- A renovated and refreshed kitchen and cafeteria
- Refresh of 3rd floor, including hallways, flooring, therapy gyms, offices and a new nurse station
- Refresh of 3rd floor patient rooms including new paint, flooring, cabinets and restrooms
- Infrastructure updates including new plumbing and flooring
This work is part of approximately $9 million in strategic capital projects Carlsbad Medical Center has undertaken over the last two years, including physical plant updates, new surgical equipment, a new 3-D mammography system and an additional CT scanner to meet the growing medical needs of the area. In 2023, Carlsbad Medical Center and Pecos Valley Physician Group logged more than 137,000 patient encounters, including ER visits, surgeries, inpatient visits, clinic appointments and outpatient procedures.
“Our patients are at the center of everything we do,” said Arledge. “We know how important it is to them that they can receive safe, quality care right here in Carlsbad, and how important it is to us to be able to provide that.”
