Carlsbad Medical Center Names New CEO

A new chief executive officer has been named at Carlsbad Medical Center. Healthcare professional Blake Hubbard will assume the role on April 27, 2026, bringing extensive knowledge to the community.
With over 25 years of experience serving in health system and hospital executive leadership roles, Hubbard has most recently served as CEO of Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona. During his tenure there he led strategic capital projects, recruited primary care providers and multiple specialists, and partnered with physicians to increase services offered and grow patient volumes.
Hubbard earned his master’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas – Pan American in Edinburg, Texas, and bachelor’s degree in business administration – finance, from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has taken active roles with civic and educational organizations in the communities where he has lived.
“I’m very excited to join Carlsbad Medical Center and the Carlsbad community,” says Hubbard. “I look forward to continuing CMC’s mission of providing great patient care, as well as continuing growth in services and commitment to the community.”
Gerry Washburn, Ph.D., chair of the Carlsbad Medical Center Board of Trustees, was heavily involved in the interview and selection process. “Blake is committed to developing positive, lasting relationships with employees, providers and board members,” Washburn said. “We are confident he is the right leader to support the continued growth and investments we are making to deliver quality medical care for Carlsbad and Southeast New Mexico.”
