Doctors' Day 2022
3/30/2022
The past two years have made it clear, more than ever, that healthcare workers are heroes in the true sense of the word. As we celebrate Doctors’ Day on March 30, I invite you to join me in recognizing the heroic work of our physicians and the safe, quality healthcare they provide. Under ever-changing conditions, whether it’s in the emergency room, on the operating table or in a clinic, they do what is best for their patients every day, and for that we are extremely grateful.
In the midst of a global pandemic with lockdowns and restrictions, chronic diseases and medical crises continued, providing an extra challenge for those who are ill and for those who care for them. Doctors on our medical staff at Carlsbad Medical Center have been steadfast partners, supporting the safety and wellness of patients and our community. They’ve educated our staff and helped us adapt our practices as we’ve continued to learn more about COVID-19, its treatment and the prevention of spread.
In 2021, the knowledge and skills of our physicians helped more than 18,000 patient visits to our Emergency Room and more than 1,900 patients who were admitted to our hospital last year. While we cared for numerous COVID-19 positive patients - many of them critical - routine care also continued. Women delivered their newborns, medical emergencies were treated, surgeries were performed and a host of other medical concerns were addressed. Many providers adapted to new practices, using tele-health visits to ease access and meet the needs of their patients. Thousands of patients who made appointments with a primary care provider or a specialist were seen in a safe environment to get care for chronic conditions and routine check-ups.
On this Doctors’ Day, please join me in reaching out to the physicians you know to say thank you. The physicians who serve in our hospital and numerous clinics all have their own stories to tell, tales of heroic measures inside our walls and in our community. They are all part of the Carlsbad Medical Center family of physicians who work with other members of our healthcare team of professionals to provide our region with outstanding medical care.
We are fortunate to have these men and women on our team. Today we acknowledge their contributions, sacrifices, skills and unwavering concern for our community.
