Carlsbad Medical Center was pleased to present its annual EMS & Law Enforcement Appreciation Night on Saturday, September 14, at Riverside Country Club.
“We cannot thank our emergency services, law enforcement and all first responders enough for what they do for our patients, for our hospital and for Carlsbad,” said Nick Arledge, Carlsbad Medical Center CEO. “We’re so lucky to have such great partners. These are the heroes who help us day-in and day-out to take care of the people in our community.”
In addition to gifts presented to law enforcement and EMS leaders, several awards were presented to members of the Carlsbad Police Department and Eddy County Sherriff’s Office. “Their presence and commitment to their jobs has resulted in making our employees feel safe,” said Arledge. “The efforts of these teams describe what true public servants exemplify.”
Sergeants Brian McCarty and Chris Caron with the Carlsbad Police Department presented special awards to members of the Carlsbad Police Department, Carlsbad Fire Department, the Eddy County Sheriff’s Department and Carlsbad Medical Center emergency room staff including Regina Maples, Joyce Gonzales, Andrea Smith and Monique Garcia, for their quick response and skillful care following a recent serious auto collision involving their patrol car. “The swift coordination at the scene and in the ER, shown with compassion and support, speaks volumes about the strength and unity of this community, McCarty said. “The actions taken on August 17, 2024 are a testament to the professionalism, bravery and humanity that resides in Carlsbad.”
At the conclusion of the awards ceremony, Arledge thanked the organizer of the event, CMC EMS Director Kris Armendariz, and also thanked community sponsors Energy Transfer, Conoco Phillips, 1228 Energy Consulting, Native Air and Trans Aero Medevac.
AR Foreman Construction was also thanked as the sponsor of the first EMS & Law Enforcement Appreciation Golf Tournament, held the day before the awards ceremony, on September 13th at Riverside Country Club. Teams from the Fire Department, the Police Department, the Sheriff's Office and Carlsbad Medical Center played in the tournament, with the Fire Department taking home the trophy. Larry Yturralde and Brad Henson of the CFD turned in the best score.
“We are thrilled with the support we’ve received from the community to make our EMS & Law Enforcement Appreciation weekend a huge success,” said Arledge. “This is just one small way we can thank our amazing first responders and show them how much they are appreciated.”
